Lewis Boots, one of the oldest residents of Chaffee county, died last Monday morning at the home of the family on the river bank just below Salida. He ate quite a hearty breakfast only a short time before his death. The deceased was one of the early settlers at Maysville but when the boom left that town he removed with his family to Salida where he has remained ever since. His disease was asthma and he expired very suddenly while sitting in a chair. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock, Rev. Essert officiating. Interment was made at Fairview cemetery.
