Erma Vivian Johnston, 93, of Fairfield, formerly of Libertyville, died at 8:01 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Fairfield. Born February 18, 1916, north of Stockport, she was the daughter of Edgar Lealdes and Edith Harriett Crenshaw Philips. On September 20, 1933, she married Mark E. Johnston in Fairfield. He died June 22, 1994. Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker. She worked as a nurse's aide at Nelson's and Parkview nursing homes in Fairfield and as a home health aide in Jefferson County. She grew up in the Stockport, Birmingham and Fairfield areas. Survivors include one son, Carroll Johnston of Douds; three daughters, Janice Schlicher of Fairfield, Marlene Stufflebeam of Brighton and Tracey Hellweg of Fairfield; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Meda Kopsieker, Treva Greiner and Shirley Baird, all of Fairfield. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Johnston will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.

Erma Vivian Johnston, 93, of Fairfield, formerly of Libertyville, died at 8:01 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield. A celebration of life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 6-8 p.m. A memorial will be designated by the family at a later date. Gifts to the memorial may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 13677 Dove Ave., Douds 54551.
Mrs. Johnston was born Feb. 18, 1816, north of Stockport in Jefferson County, the daughter of Edgar Lealdes and Edith Harriett Crenshaw Philips. She married Mark E. Johnston Sept. 20, 1933, in Fairfield. He died June 22, 1994. Mrs. Johnston grew up in the Stockport, Birmingham and Fairfield area. She and her husband lived in Libertyville for many years.
