Longtime Anchor Point residents Wilma LILLIAN. and Kenneth B. Stradling died Feb. 9, 2000. Wilma was in long-term care at South Peninsula Hospital, and Ken was at home. She was 74, and he was 72. Graveside services were held at Anchor Point Cemetery. A memorial service and potluck followed at Clendenan's Corner in Anchor Point. The Rev. Jason Johnson officiated at both services. Pallbearers included Marc, Matt and David Roderick, Jarid and Jeremy Symens, Forney Ingram and Ed Berthelot.

Mrs. Stradling was born May 14, 1925, in Tacoma, Wash., to Wesley and Lillian (Bain) Kobel. She was raised and educated in Tacoma. In 1955, she moved to Alaska to homestead in Anchor Point. She worked at April's Motel, Alaska Seafoods and Anchor River Inn. For years, she was responsible for cooking the ''fine food'' at Anchor River Inn, her family said.

Mr. Stradling was born April 14, 1927, in Douglas, Ariz. He spent much of his time in New Mexico. Mr. Stradling served in the 11th Airborne during World War II in the Philippines. He moved to Alaska in 1962 and lived with Elton and Edna Anderson on their homestead. He ran the store at Silver King Lodge and then the Anchor Point Laundromat. Mr. Stradling retired from the Teamsters Union after doing construction on the Alaska pipeline. He and Wilma were married Feb. 23, 1979, in Homer. Mrs. Stradling was a Methodist and belonged to the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She was active in the Anchor Point Community Club, PTA and the Homemakers. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers, halibut fishing and her grandchildren. Mr. Stradling was a lifetime member of the VFW and was its current commander. He proudly made sure things at the VFW were run right, ''fair and always with the most respect for its members and all veterans alike,'' his family said. He raised two boys, Levi and David, and the last three years of his life were brightened by his new grandson Justin Colby.

Survivors include their children, Carolyn Roderick, John Symens, Jerry Symens and Levi Stradling, and their families, all of Anchor Point, including 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Stradling is also survived by three brothers and a sister, all of New Mexico. Memorial donations may be sent to either the Hospice of Homer, 3953 Bartlett, Suite 3, Homer 99603; Alzheimer's Association, 240 E. Tudor Road, Suite 110, Anchorage 99503; or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 2165, Kenai 99611-2165 Arrangements by Homer Funeral Home.
