OBITUARY:

Ray Stewart Makinson -- Veneta, OR -- The graveside services will be held July 2, 2003 for Ray Stewart Makinson of Veneta, who died June 27 of a heart attack. He was 73.

Makinson was born May 2, 1930 in Dallas, Oregon to Ray and Esther STEWARD MAKINSON. He married Ardyce MITCHELL in Triangle Lake on December 16, 1951.

He was a lifelong resident of this area and graduated from Triangle Lake High School in 1948. He served in the Navy from 1948 until 1952. He worked as a commercial and residential contractor for 40 years.

His interests included model railroads, and he was a member of the Fern Ridge Neighborhood Watch, and the Central Grange in Veneta. He served as a deacon with the Worldwide Church of God.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Rebecca Abney of Two Rivers, WI, Linda Babb of Gold Hill, Greta Borgaard of Redding, CA, and Jeannine Cammack of Carmichael, CA; a son, Timothy of Reno, NV; a brother, Lee of Cottage Grove; a sister, Mardell Hood of Veneta; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A son, Ben, and a grandson, Matthew died previously.

Wednesday's service will be held at 2 p.m. at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. A reception will follow the service at the Central Grange in Veneta. Lane Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
