Funeral services for Ruth Keahey were held Monday, November 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Martin Funeral Chapel of Elk City. Interment was in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.
Ruth Mae, the daughter of Harvey S. and Lillie May (Burr) Murray(sic) and passed away Friday, October 30, 2009 at the age of 86.
She was raised in eastern Oklahoma and lived in California for a while before making her home in Sayre. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a member of the Cherokee Nation.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three daughters, Ruby Lois, Jewell and Velma.
She is survived by her children; Stella Jenkins and husband, Bob of Tulsa, OK, Rowena Kerfoot and husband Royce of Derby, KS, Elbert Spears of Sayre, Donald Keahey and wife, Kim of Dodge City, KS and Edward Keahey and wife of Yvonne of Elk City; 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
