Boone County Republican 1877

By an unfortunate omission, we failed to notice the death of two persons well known and beloved in this community . We refer to the death of Mrs. Emma Houghton, which occurred on Tuesday the 19th of June, and that of Elizabeth A. Boggs, wife of James H. Boggs, on the Thursday following. Mrs. Houghton was a daughter of Rev. J.H. Boggs, of this township and her's is the first inroad on a large family of children that death has made there being five brothers and six sisters. The two whom death has called away were sister in law. Elizabeth was the daughter of Robert McNutt, who, when living, was a resident of Clarion county, Pa. Her elder brother, J.W. McNutt, and her sister Jane arrived here on the evening after the burial, when the grave was opened and the two permitted to gaze upon the natural and almost life like features of their dead sister. Mrs. Houghton leaves a young infant child. Mrs. Boggs died at the residence of her brother in law, J.W. Smullin, in this city, of disease of the kidneys, Geo. W. Boggs and wife, of Omaha, and John W. Boggs, of Blair were in attendance at the funeral.
