Friends and acquaintances here will be shocked to learn of the unexpected death of Mrs. Katherine Watson, which occurred at the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. Hardin, near Newbern, Tenn., on March 20th, at 9 a.m., death being due to pneumonia and meningitis. Deceased was born September 21st, 1863, and was aged 72 years and six months.
She was married in early life to one Joseph Etheridge, who lived only a few years, leaving two sons and two daughters, who still survive and who are respectively: Messrs. Albert and Luther Etheridge and Mdmes. Owen and Horace Hardin, all living near Newbern, Tenn.
She was married several years later to the late Daniel Watson, brother of Messers. E.E. and Abe Watson, deceased, who resided in this county. Mr. Watson also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Methodist Church since her early life.
Besides the above named children, deceased is also survived by one stepson, Sylvester Watson of near Dyersburg, Tenn.; two brothers, Messrs. James and John Warden of near Dyersburg, and two half-brothers, Lee Warden of near Newbern and W.B. Warden, formerly of this city. Also she leaves twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn their loss.
Deceased was buried at the Bailey schoolhouse (near Newbern) beside her first husband.
