Wake services will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today in Warford-Walker Mortuary Chapel, 509 N. Hughes St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Temple of Praise Community Church with the Rev. Chris Brown, pastor, officiating and Dr. Lee Simpson assisting. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Rosie Lee Douglas was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Wetumka, Okla. She was raised in Denison and attended Sherman High School. She met and married Edwin C. Douglas and moved to Amarillo in 1954. She was formerly employed with St. Anthony's Hospital and Bivins Nursing Home. Rosie Douglas was an Amarillo resident for 55 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.C. Douglas Sr.; a sister, Johnnie Mae Rivers; and three brothers, Jessie, Willie and James Hughes.
Survivors include five sons, E.C. Douglas Jr. and wife Lena of Raytown, Mo., Robert Douglas and wife Dianna and Michael Douglas, all of Amarillo, Jonathan Douglas and wife Joan of Kansas City, Mo., and Shaheed Douglas of Gary, Ind.; eight daughters, Ruby Byndon of Houston, Rosie B. Owens and husband William, Nellotie Douglas, La Wanda Smith and Stacy Butler, all of Amarillo, Cynthia Jefferson and husband Clifford of Las Vegas, Becky White of Aurora, Colo., and Elizabeth Douglas-Cuble and husband Lucky of Arlington; a brother, Booker T. Hughes and wife Lillie of Oklahoma City; a sister, Lula Faye of Oklahoma City; 41 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
