Elmer married Della Coulter on Jan 1, 1896 in Decatur, Macon Co., IL. They had 5 children:

1. Thelma Jane DeLong b. 1897.
2. Flossie Marie DeLong b. 1899.
3. Elmer Ellsworth DeLong, Jr. b. 1904.
4. Della Margie DeLong b. 1905.
5. Erma Leata DeLong b. 1906.


Elmer E. DeLong Sr., charter member and organizer of Homewood fishing club, sportsman, and for years owner of a shooting gallery In Decatur, died in his home at 656
East Grand avenue, at 1:55 o'clock Saturday morning. He had been ill for a long time, but had been confined
to his bed for only about two weeks. His death resulted from kidney trouble.
Mr. DeLong, who was 66 years old, came to Argenta at the age of 6 years. In 1907, he came to Decatur where he operated a shooting gallery and penny arcade in 141-143 East Prairie until 1919. At that time he purchased a general store in Mt. Pulaski where he was in business two years. He retired in 1922 and has since lived in his home on East Grand avenue.
Mr. DeLong was ever a lover of hunting and fishing and this sport formed his principal recreation. He was a charter member and one of the principal organizers of the Homewood Fishing Club on Lake Decatur.
Elmer E. DeLong. Sr. was born in Urichsville, O. on March 16, 1864. He married Della Coulter, Jan. 1, 1896. He leaves his wife and five children: Mrs. J.F. Erlenbusch,
Mrs. Flossie Wells, and Miss Margie DeLong, all of Decatur, Mrs. Glenn Hoots, Wyandotte, Mich, and Elmer DeLong of Decatur. He had eight grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Monson funeral home where it was prepared for burial and will be returned to the residence where it will remain until time for the funeral. Friends may call in the home to review the body.
