Great-granddaughter of William Bradshaw, Judith Scruggs Bradshaw, John Armistead, and Hannah Harrison
Granddaughter of Josiah Bradshaw and Elizabeth Armistead Bradshaw

Minta Selina, commonly known as 'Minty' was the only child of John Absalom and Susannah Bradshaw.

17 years old (according to census) in 1850, Minta S. lived with her parents in Burke County. Her father was a farmer, and their next neighbors were James and Elizabeth Smith, and Joseph and Nancy Pruitt and their children.

In 1856 Minta married John Hoyle. Their son John S. was born in 1862.
Minty's husband John was a Confederate soldier, and died in the Civil War. He passed away from colitis in a hospital in Richmond, Virginia, on 19 October 1864.

In July 1870 Minty married Sylvester B. 'Wes' Chapman, and the Lower Fork Burke Census shows them living with three children: John S. (8), Philo (4), and an eight month old infant.
Minty's father John is also living in the same household.
Her age on this census is 35, which would put her date of birth two years forward, to 1835. Nevertheless, she seems to have been around 15 years older than her husband Sylvester.
Their son William Lafayette was born in 1873, followed by Robert three years later. There was also another child, Elizabeth.

By 1900, Minty has been married to Sylvester 'Wes' for 35 years. They both still live in the Lower Fork area of Burke, together with their 23 year old son Robert.

Minty died in 1920, and is buried in the Chapman Cemetery.
