Mrs. Schaad Passes;
Thursday Morning

Douglas-county born, Mrs. Virginia J. Schaad, 87, wife of William F. Schaad of the Union Hill district, Aurora, will be returned to Douglas county for interment in Civil Bend cemetery at Winston Thursday. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. at the Canby chapel of Everhart & Lent, the Rev. Harold L. Dunson officating. At Winston, at 4 p.m., she will be interred by her first husband, Charles Rose, member of the early Oregon family for which Roseburg was named.
Mrs. Schaad died Friday night at Canby Nursing home, several weeks after suffering a stroke.
Memorial gifts to Canby Christian church may be made in her name. She was a member of that church.
Mrs. Schaad was born Virginia Cameron at Melrose, Ore., Jan. 6, 1877. She lived until 1913 in Douglas county, chiefly in Roseburg, and then moved to Alberta, Canada, for a 15-year stay. She had lived in Medford, Portland and Seattle, and was living in Molalla when she and Mr. Schaad wre married in 1946 at Vancouver, Wash.
Besides her widower, she leaves three sons, James Rose of Myrtle Creek, Henry Rose in Alberta, and Charles Rose of Medford; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. One granddaughter, and namesake, is Virginia Wright of Myrtle Creek, widely known for her grand chapter, O.E.S., activities.
