Frank Milliken, the son of Thomas & Susanna Parker Milliken, was both a boatman and laborer by occupations and stood 5' 6" tall and had dark hair and gray eyes.

A Civil War veteran, who enlisted in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, September 7, 1861, and mustered in at York a week later. Court-martialed, reason unknown, while serving railroad guard duty in Maryland and sentenced to forfeit $10 pay. Captured at the battle of Carter's Woods June 15, 1863, and sent to Belle Isle Prison in Richmond. After exchange, he deserted from Camp Parole, Annapolis, Maryland. Arrested October 19, 1863, he rejoined the regiment November 19, 1863, a venture that cost him $31.70 in transportation costs and another $13.99 for loss of clothing. Captured again September 24, 1864, in Virginia and sent to Salisbury Prison. Paroled at North East Ferry, North Carolina, February 27, 1865. The War Department rescinded the desertion charge during his pension application process.

He allegedly died from "apoplexy" in Camden, New Jersey, but his death certificate says Chester, Delaware County, and adds a corroborating note that reads, "This man was sick in Camden NJ before coming here."

IN MEMORIAM
MILLIKEN--In memory of my dear husband, Frank Milliken, who departed this life October 6, 1917

The month of October once more is here
To us one sad month of the year.
For his memory is as dear today,
As in the hour he passed away.
Day by day we watched him fade and slowly pine away
Yet in our hearts we often prayed that he might longer stay.
Through all his sufferings he often smiled
The smile of heavenly birth.
And when the angels called him home
He smiled farewell to earth.

Though you're gone you're not forgotten.
Your place can never more be filled.
We will keep your memory sacred.
Till our hearts in death are stilled
