Robert Charles DeFoe, 81, formerly of Chillicothe, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, in Kansas City.

Born April 26, 1927, to Charles and Alice Dickison DeFoe, he married Joanne Droll. She died in November 1999.

Surviving are two sons: Daniel (Jackie) DeFoe of Blue Springs, Mo., and Craig (Dawn) DeFoe of Rome; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death was one sister, Dorothy Anderson.

He worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 38 years, retiring in 1985.

He was a member of the United Methodist Men's Club.

A memorial service was Sept. 18 in Blue Springs. Sheil Colonial Funeral Home in Kansas City, was in charge of arrangements. Cremation rites were accorded, and private graveside services were Sept. 20 in LaSalle Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church and Rescue 33.
