Funeral services for Hettie Blase Applewhite, 87, of Beasley, are scheduled 2 p.m. Tuesday at Garmany & Carden Chapel in Rosenberg. The Rev. Donald Kolkmeier will officiate, with burial at W.O.W. Cemetery in Rosenberg.

Mrs. Applewhite, formerly of Rosenberg and Sugar Land, died Saturday at her niece's home in Beasley. A native of Fort Bend County, she was born Aug. 1, 1905 in Rosenberg. She was a charter member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Rosenberg. She retired from the Rosenberg Post Office after 34 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.V. Applewhite, in 1976; and her stepson, Robert L. Applewhite, in 1986.

Survivors include a niece and her husband, Donna Kay and O.D. Tucker of Beasley; four grandchildren, Tracey King and her husband, Jimmy, of North Carolina, Keene Applewhite of Houston, Derrick Applewhite and his wife, Robin, of North Carolina, and Walker Applewhite of Houston; and a step-daughter-in-law, Sherry Applewhite of Houston; and one great-grandchild. Other local relatives include a niece, Sonja Deiss, of Rosenberg; a nephew and his wife, Byron and Freddie Geick, of Rosenberg; and a sister-in-law, Irma Blase, of Rosenberg.

Pallbearers will be O.D. Tucker, Bo Tucker, Bat Tucker, Byron Geick, Everitt Miller, and Darryl Blase.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.

Friends may call after noon Monday at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Services are under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors in Rosenberg.
