Mrs. Josephine Barta, Pioneer Resident, Dies

Mrs. Josephine Barta, a resident of this section for more than 30 years, died at her home in the south part of town on Sunday, January 22nd.

Born in Czecho-Slovakia 81 years ago, she came to the United States at the age of 17 and spent 64 years in this country. She was the widow of the late Jos. Barta, Sr.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 23rd, at the Church of the Assumption, Rev. Ed. J. Polcak in charge. The interment was at the Catholic Cemetery.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Christine Kash of Hempstead, Mrs. Joe Matchek of Caldwell, Mrs. Joe Sebesta of Ennis, and Miss Lillian Barta of West; six sons, Joe of Ennis, L.M. of Oklahoma City, Emil of Ennis, Victor of Ennis, Albin of San Antonio, Theodore of Caldwell; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Polcak of Industry, Mrs. Frances Fridel of Bryan; one brother, Frank Prazak of Bryan.
