Donald D. Lacey, of Holdrege, Nebraska formerly of the Shelton, Nebraska area, departed this life and entered The Eternal Home on November 17, 2009, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska.

Donald was 84 years of age having been born on March 31, 1925, south of Shelton, Nebraska to Walter and Hattie (Williams) Lacey.

Don is survived by: sister, Lorene Johnson and her husband, Harold, of Holdrege, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Gladys Aldridge of Grand Island, Nebraska and Reva Lacey of Council Bluffs, Iowa; brother-in-law, William Cowle of Princeton, Minnesota and a host of friends and relatives.

Don farmed the family farm until 1976, when he moved to Omaha, Nebraska. He worked as a security guard with the state of Nebraska until retirement.

He then moved to Holdrege, Nebraska and for the last five years was a resident at Holdrege (Nebraska) Memorial Homes.

His interests included hunting, fishing, gardening, writing poetry, drawing and woodcarving. He enjoyed watching wildlife, especially ducks, geese, cranes and deer.

Don was welcomed into The Heavenly Home: by his parents, Walter and Hattie Lacey; brothers, Robert Aldridge and Walter Lacey; sisters, Louise Cowle and Lucile Stokke; and niece, Rebecca Opfer.
