Obit in The Correctionville News, 12 November 1925, page 1: Funeral services for Morris Vere Hardy, the man who was found dead along a lonely road north of Washta last week with his head shot full of rifle holes and every evidence of murder, were held Sunday afternoon at the Federated Church, Washta, in charge of Pastor Rev. L.D. Havighurst. Burial was in Grand Meadow Cemetery beside his brother. Morris Vere Hardy was born near Meriden, Iowa, on July 27, 1900. With his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.P. Hardy, he moved to Grand Meadow when about five years old. Here the only other child of the family died and was buried in Grand Meadow Cemetery. When he was ten years the family moved to Cushing where he attended school. He married Miss Viola Zabel at Storm Lake on February 2, 1920, and moved to Centerview, Missouri, where his parents still live. They had one child, Willis, born August 3, 1920, his wife returning to her parents August 17. He was paroled from Anamosa to his uncle, W.E. Libby, some time in January 1924 and had made his home with them near Washta until his death on the night of November 2, 1925. He leaves to mourn his father and mother, S.B. and Florence Hardy, other relatives and friends.
