Mrs. Elizabeth Gustin, widow of John B Gustin, died at her home 276 East Second Street, June 4th, 1912 aged 83 years, five months and seven days.
Her maiden name was Dearth; she was born in Warren Co., Ohio December 27th 1828. She was united in marriage to John G. Gustin, September 5th 1848; to this union were born ten children, four of whom are living Francis M. Gustin of Danville, Ill, William H, Elbert R, and Edward C of this city.
She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in her youth, and always took an active part in church work until a few years ago, when her physical activities ceased. But, by prayerful meditations and constant reading of God's holy word, her zeal and devotion for the interests of the church, she so dearly loved, increased. She especially enjoyed religious conversation with her children and friends.
Soon after her marriage she and her husband came to Miami County and lived on a farm until the death of her husband which occurred April 22, 1887. She then came to Peru where she has resided.
She was loved by all who knew her and especially by her children to whom she was sincerely devoted. She was a kind and loving mother who will be greatly missed by her children and a large circle of friends. Besides her children she leaves seven grand children and four great grand children.

Elizabeth Gustin, aged 83 years, a widow, died at her home 276 east Second St Tuesday morning at 7 o'clock. Mrs. Gustin had been in ill health for a long time, although the past few week she appeared to be feeling better and Monday afternoon she was out buggy riding with her son. She took suddenly ill about 11 o'clock Monday night and gradually grew worse until early morning when the physicians gave up hope of saving her life.
Mrs. Gustin was the widow of John B Gustin whose death occurred in 1887. Mrs. Gustin was a native of Ohio. She is survived by four sons, namely Edward C., Will H., Elbert R. of this city and Frank of Danville, Ill. Mrs. Elizabeth Gustin of Peru, Ind., mother of F. M. Gustin of this city, died Tuesday morning at her home ____ Indiana. Mrs. Gustin has been making frequent visits to this city for several years past and is widely acquainted in Danville. Her age was 83 years.
Monday afternoon she went out buggy riding and seemed to be in unusually good spirits and health. She took suddenly ill Monday night about 11 o'clock and sank gradually to her end early Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Gustin was a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church for over 60 years. She was the mother of ten children, four of whom survive her. F. M. Gustin of this city is the oldest of the four children. He and his wife and his son, C. M. Gustin and wife, will go to Peru to be present at the funeral of his mother Friday afternoon.
Mrs. Gustin's husband proceeded her to the grave twenty years ago.
