JANESVILLE---Bessie Marie Thurner, age 100, formerly of 1321 Mole Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003 at Meadow Park Health Care Center, Clinton, WI. She was born in Bancroft, WI on July 22, 1902, the daughter of Alfred and Catherine (Brown) Ellis. She has been a Janesville resident since 1916. Bessie married Henry C. Thurner on Jan. 15, 1921 in Rockford. He preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1967. She was a member of First Christian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty (Peter) Podwell of Janesville; 3 sons: Henry (Betty) Thurner, Marvin (Maria) Thurner and Robert (Lois) Thurner all of Janesville; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, grandson, Gary Thurner; granddaughter, Wendy Thurner; 2 brothers, Millard and Charles Ellis; and 2 sisters, Jennie Waggoner and Emma Starin.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, 2003 at First Christian Church with Rev. Dee Ann Woods officiating. Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church. SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
