Robert was son of Robert Lee Floyd Sr and second wife Lindsay Fryar.

Robert was Killed in Action on the 16th day of February 1945. He was interred overseas and in 1948, his remains were returned to the United States for reburial in this country. His father Robert Sr made application on 23 October 1948 for a headstone for his son's grave.
