Services will be on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Eugene B. Hoeschen age 93 of St. Joseph who died Tuesday, October 1 at the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Reverend Gregory Miller, OSB will officiate. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls with full military honors provided by the St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Granite Post #428.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 12:00 Noon on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. The Senior Citizens will pray at 4:30 p.m. followed by St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Granite Post #428 at 6:30 p.m. and parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Joseph. Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Joseph.
Eugene was born on October 10, 1908 in Avon, Minnesota to Theodore and Rose (Micklish) Hoeschen. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Eugene married Irene M. Wollak on December 28, 1950 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was employed by Mead Container as a Heavy Duty Maintenance Engineer retiring in 1967 and moving to St. Cloud 1982.
He was a member of St. Joseph Parish, St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Granite Post #428 and the DAV.
Survivors include his wife, Irene of St. Joseph; two sons, Jerry of Potsmouth, Nebraska, and Kevin of Albuquerque, New Mexico; six grandchildren; three sisters, Marcella Spohn of Richmond, Colie Bruemmer of Farming, and Beatrice Reitmeier of St. Joseph.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Robert, Sylvester, Ralph, and Ted; four sisters, Verena Townsend, Rita Peterson, Julie Hauswirth, and Adelhide.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
