Janice Marilyn Felt Drake, long-time Logan resident, passed away peacefully at home, May 22, 2009 from congestive heart failure. She was born Sept. 1, 1925, in Ogden UT to J. Earl Felt and Myrtle Unsworth, the third daughter in a family of eight girls.

She grew up on a farm in Huntsville during the Great Depression of the 30's and graduated from Weber High School in 1943. She attended Weber College on a scholarship and affiliated with Otioqua Sorority, making lasting friendships. While at Weber College she became a certified Red Cross Swimming Instructor, and graduated with an Associate of Art degree. During college she worked at Elizabeth Huth Floral Shop where she learned the art of floral arrangements which she enjoyed all her life.

On a blind date, Valentine's Day, 1943, she met the love of her life, Eldon Drake. WWII was on, and Eldon left for three years duty with the U.S. Marine Corps. They were married July 11, 1945, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple by President David O. McKay.

After WWII, while Eldon was teaching at Weber High School, Janice worked for Dr. Russell N. Hirst in Ogden, a position she thoroughly enjoyed. In 1948 she and Eldon left for Iowa State University, and while Eldon earned his Masters and Doctorate degrees, Janice worked in the ISU Accounting Office.

In 1951 Eldon accepted a faculty position at Utah State Agricultural College (USU). While at USU Eldon and Janice have been members of the Old Main Society, Big Blue Club and Emeriti Association.

Janice was involved with Faculty Women's League, Belletrist Literary Club, Logan Study Club and Les Amis. She was active in PT A and loved good music and drama. She and Eldon were avid supporters of the Old Lyric Theatre productions and the Utah Festival Opera.

Janice was an active member of the LDS Church. She served both in the presidency and as a teacher in the Jr. Sunday School and Primary, and in Relief Society she was a loyal visiting teacher and visiting teaching supervisor up until January of this year.
