Rev. John Bledsoe Dies; Rites Today

The Rev. John D. Bledsoe, 81, a retired Baptist pastor, died Thursday morning at a local hospital.

He had been a resident of Hot Springs for the past 10 years, and was born Feb. 2, 1881, in Arkadelphia. He resided at 431 Alcorn.

The Rev. Bledsoe was a member of Central Baptist church. He was active in the ministry of the Baptist church for 60 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Zetta Bledsoe, Hot Springs; four sons, William T. Bledsoe, Fayetteville, Tenn., John T. Bledsoe, Little Rock, the Rev. Doyle B. Bledsoe, Stuttgart, and Winburn N. Bledsoe, Dallas, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. A. E. Booker, Camden, Mrs. Earl Bowling, Alice, Texas, Mrs. Robert L. Wilson, Glasgow, Mont., and Mrs. Harvey Miller, McGehee; Two brothers, F. F. Bledsoe, Arkadelphia, Wallace W. Bledsoe, Little Rock; two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Graddy, Little Rock, Mrs. Lecia Tallent, Arkadelphia, 22 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three step-children, Herbert and James Chunn of Hot Springs, and Mrs. Roy Lawler of Long Beach, Calif.

The body will lie in state at Gross Mortuary until 12 (noon), Friday.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at DeGary Baptist church, DeGray, Ark., near Arkadelphia. Burial will be in DeGray cemetery. Grandsons of the Rev. Mr. Bledsoe will serve as pallbearers.

Murry Funeral Home of Arkadelphia will have charge of funeral arrangements.
