RANDOLPH, Utah—Funeral services for Lucille M. Thornock were Saturday, March 12, in the Randolph, Utah, Ward Chapel.

Pallbearers were her grandsons. Her grandsons-in-law and nephews were honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Thornock, 96, died Wednesday, March 9, in a rest home at Montpelier, Idaho. She was a long time Randolph, Utah resident.

She was born in Meadowville, Utah, on Dec. 24, 1891 to Joseph Smith Moffat and Lois Barham Gunn Moffat. She attended school in Meadowville and Laketown, Utah, until ninth grade and then attended Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho, and Latter-day Saints High School in Salt Lake City. She received certification for teaching elementary school in 1910 and taught at Sage Creek, eight miles north of Randolph in 1910-11. The next year she taught in Eden, Weber County and then in Plymouth, Meadowville and Laketown, Utah.

She married Aden Woodruff Thornock of Bloomington, Idaho, in the Logan LDS Temple on Jan. 10, 1917. The had four children, Willa Lucille, Aden Kay, John Russell and Lois Ann. Their early years were spent living in Rigby, Idaho Falls and Pocatello, Idaho and they moved to Randolph in 1930 where they spent the rest of their lives.

She was active in church and community activities throughout her life. A full-time homemaker, she was counselor in MIA in Bybee Ward in Idaho and later president. She taught primary in Fairview and Pocatello, Idaho. In Randolph Ward, she was primary teacher, then president, counselor in Ward Relief Society, Woodruff Stake Relief Society president, member of Randolph Literary Club from 1931 to 1979. She was a member of Ladies Posse, 1948-50 and captain in 1948; captain of Daughters of Utah Pioneers in Randolph for two years and county chaplain for two years; chairman of Cancer Drive 1951-56; county campaign director of Polio Drive 1938; editor of Co-op News in 1952; member of Randolph Ward Choir for many years; Relief Society visiting teacher, 40 years; and celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary in 1967.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, John, Roy, Ralph and Clarence Moffat, and sisters, Carrie M. Kearl, Lois M. Johnson, Jennie M. Thornock, and grandsons, Kirk W. and Robert Brown.

She is survived by Russell and Emma Lucy Thornock of Cokeville, Kay and Kathleen Thornock, Sheldon and Willa Kennedy of Randolph, Lois Ann and George Brown of Farson and their families.

She had 20 grandchildren and 75 great-grandchildren.
