She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church demonstrating untiring, unselfish dedication, sharing her joy teaching children and adults. After retirement, she served in international Missions.
She was a retired school teacher with the Taylor County School System.
She united in marriage to Dr. J. Chester Badgett September 15, 1936.
Besides her husband, Dr. J. Chester Badgett of Campbellsville, she is survived by two sons and one daughter: Joseph Chester "Tony" Badgett Jr. and wife, Priscilla and Ruth Ann Shaw and husband, Robert Seymour "Bob" of Frankfort and Dr. James Thomas Badgett and wife, Rachel of Louisville; five grandchildren: Dr. Joseph Russell Shaw and wife, Caroline of Bloomington, Indiana, Jason Robert Shaw and wife, Rachel of Frankfort, Jill Michelle Badgett of Lexington, Julie Danielle Badgett of Richmond and Dr. James Thomas Curry Badgett and wife, Jeanne of Kensington, Maryland; seven great-grandchildren: Ian Shaw and Emma Shaw of Bloomington, Indiana, Merritt Shaw and Sawyier Shaw of Frankfort, Kentucky, Elizabeth "Beppy" Badgett, Eleanor Ruth Badgett and Lois Curry Badgett of Kensington, Maryland; a sister, Lucy Lois Smith of Fredericksburg, Virginia; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother: Mary Jo Chaddic, Patricia Carter, Dorothea Tucker and James Coakley Cloyd II.
