William "Billy" Max was the son of Rufus Belie & Vallie Rae Bayles Burrows. He served in World War II as a private first class, in the 16th Air Force Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron. He was killed in a RB 29-A plane crash in Shelf Moor, Bleaklow, England, coming back from a special mission of the Berlin Airlift during the Cold War, just three days before coming home.
