RAYMOND WALTER HAGENMASTER is a member of the firm Hartnett & Hagenmaster, real estate and insurance at Stafford. He has been an independent, hard-working man from early youth and has effected his station as a successful business man.
He was born in Clay Center, Kansas, April 24, 1884. His father, W. E. Hagenmaster, who was born in Pennsylvania in 1856, came to Kansas during the '70s and was a miller by trade, an occupation he followed at Clay Center and later at Morganville and Clyde, about four years in each place. He also spent four years in Excelsior Springs and in 1905 moved to Stafford, where he continued the business until his death in April, 1917. He was a republican. W. E. Hagenmaster married Ida Pumphrey, who was born at Erie, Pennsylvania, in 1864, and is still living at Stafford. Raymond Walter is the oldest of their children. Dell in 1918 was a sergeant in the army at Camp Funston; Marie, who lives with her mother, is a graduate of the State Normal School at Emporia and took post-graduate work in the University of California and in other institutions, and is now principal of the graded schools of Stafford. Gladys is a graduate of the Stafford High School and is now assistant postmaster and was postmaster under Wilson until 1918. Ruth is a graduate of the Stafford High School and of the Emporia Normal School and is a teacher in Stafford.
Raymond W. Hagenmaster attended public school at Clay Center and the high school at Pawnee, Nebraska, to the age of fifteen. Even while at school he worked at nights and during the holiday and vacation seasons in flour mills, and at the age of eighteen he was assigned the responsibilities of night miller in a mill at Pawnee City, Nebraska. He remained there three years, and he and his father then owned and operated a flour mill at Excelsior Springs four years. On coming to Stafford in 1905 he was employed as packer in a local flour mill for eighteen months, and in 1906 joined Mr. Hartnett in the real estate and insurance business. He has found it a congenial and profitable field, and besides the ownership of the large property belonging to the firm he has a modern home which he built in 1909. Mr. Hagenmaster is a republican, a trustee of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and is affiliated with Stafford Lodge No. 252, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Wichita Consistory No. 2 of the Scottish Rite and Wichita Temple of the Mystic Shrine. In March, 1908, at Hutchinson, Kansas, he married Miss Pearl Stoeckle. Her mother is Mrs. Bess W. Stoeckle, of Stafford.

Miss Polly Ann Crump, accompanied by her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Crump of Illinois returned from Hutchison, Kansas where they attended the funeral of their brother-in-law, Ray W. Hagenmaster, who died April 16 after a lingering illness.
Mrs. Sarah Detweiller who went to Hutchinson with them remained for a time to be with her sister.
Mr. Hagenmaster was born April 24, 1885 at Clay Center, Kansas. He had lived in Hutchinson since 1930 where he had been a farm realtor and salesman for McNaughten Investment Company. He was married to Miss Susan Crump, in Fulton, Missouri, June 13, 1963.
Hagenmaster was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hutchinson, the Hutchinson Rotary Club where he had a perfect attendance for 45 years, was a 32nd degree Mason, and was on the Hutchinson Real Estate Board.
In addition to his widow, Mr. Hagenmaster was survived by two sisters: Mrs. Margie Sandifer and Mrs. Ruth McMillan of Stafford, Kansas.
Johnson and Sons Chapel conducted the funeral service in Hutchinson and burial was in Stafford Cemetery.
