HICKORY - Nevert Scronce Costner, 92, of Vale, died Feb. 12, 2005, at her residence. Born Oct. 25, 1912, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late William Burton Scronce and Alma Ruth Rudisill Scronce. A member of Corinth Baptist Church, Mrs. Costner worked in textiles, and later for Hickory Springs Manufacturing. She enjoyed church activities, singing in the choir, missions and especially reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Guy Costner; a son, Bobby Lee Costner; two daughters, Betty Jean Coulter and an infant, Teresa Jill Costner; four brothers, Arney Scronce, Bill Scronce, Harold Scronce and Forney Scronce; and five sisters, Regenia S. Goins, Bonnie S. Bolick, Kate S. Wood, Carrie S. Jarrett and Clara Bow Scronce Fulbright. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia C. Devine and husband, Loy, and Dian C. Sisk and husband, Bill, of Statesville, and Sylvia C. Fox and husband, Bill, of Vale; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe Scronce and wife, Betty, of Merrill, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. William Kanupp at 2 p.m.
Tuesday at Corinth Baptist Church in Vale.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be at Corinth Baptist Church from 6 to 7:30 tonight, Monday. Memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church, Building Fund, 7929 W.
N.C. 10, Vale, N.C. 28618.
