Well Known Garden CIty Farmer Died Suddenly at Home of Neighbor Feb. 15.

Pete E. Neuenschwander was born February 2, 1888 near Versailles, Mo., and departed this life February 15, 1950, near Garden City at the age of 62 years, 13 days.
He was the son of David and Elizabeth Neuenschwander, and came to Garden City with his parents in March 1897. The rest of his life was spent in the community, near Aaron in Bates county, and in the service of his country. In his youth he united with the Bethel Mennonite church, later changing his membership to the Aaron Methodist church.
He entered the army at Harrisonville on February 25, 1918; left the United States June 22, 1918, and served as an artillery gunner in Battery B 341 Field Artillery in France. He returned to the United States May 24, 1919, and received his honorable discharge at Camp Zachary Taylor. Ky. June 6, 1919.
Pete, as he was known among his relatives and friends, is survived by two brothers and five sisters: Clara, Noah and John of Garden City; Mrs. Ella King and Rose Neuenschwander, Chicago, Ill; and Mrs. Fannie Camp of Hesston, Kas.
His parents and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Doussett and Mrs. Anna Kauffman, preceded him in death.
Upon his return to civilian life he took up his former occupation of farming and continued In this and livestock raising until his death.
Pete was a quiet, congenial person, living by the golden rule, taking an interest in civic affairs and was a good loyal neighbor.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, February 17, at the Atkinson Bros. funeral home in Garden City by Rev. Walter Davenport. Burial was in the Garden City cemetery,
