BLANCHE BITNER - Memorial services for Blanche Bitner were Thursday in Montrose Valley Funeral Home. The Rev. Clair Mitchell officiated. Cremation followed services.

Mrs. Bitner died of natural causes in Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 59. Mrs. Bitner was a housekeeper.

She was born August 15, 1934, to Albert and Hattie Jones Brown in Lake Preston, South Dakota, where she spent her childhood and attended school. She married Leslie Bitner on September 7, 1949, in Pipestone, Minnesota. The later divorced. Mrs. Bitner lived in De Smet, South Dakota until moving to Eckert six years ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Mrs. Bitner enjoyed painting ceramics, gardening, sewing, reading, her dog Sandy, parakeet Sparkie and her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Loren Bitner of Dell Rapids, SD; four daughters, Gail Volk of Somerset, Gloria Zietler of Rapid City, SD, Bonnie Chavez of Show Low, Arizona, and Donna Weiss of Bruce SD; a sister Beulah Weepie of Scottsdale, Arizona; and five grandchildren. Four brothers, Dale, Floyd, Wayne and Clifford and a sister, Beverly are deceased.
