Mrs. Bowen's recently purchased 1967 Opal went off the right shoulder and she lost control. The car skidded across the highway, spinning counter-clockwise at 180 degres, and the right side of the vehicle crashed into a large tree. Mrs. Bowen was pinned in the wreckage.
Tioga County Sherriff's Department officers and the Owego Fire Dept. emergency squad answered a call for help and removed the woman from the car. The Owego firemen's ambulance took her to the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre where she was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Phillip Mahoney. Tioga County, NY Coroner Dr. Vernon E.
