My Grand Uncle, Leland "Happy" Johnson was the son of Alfred and Anna (Kurten) Johnson, Swedish immigrants to Haugen, Wisconsin. He was a twin. His brother, Leroy, was lost on the Kenai River in Alaska in 1946. Uncle Hap had 11 brothers and sisters who grew up on the family farm on Devil's Lake in Barron County. But it was he who stayed and worked the homestead his parents had worked so hard to establish, until he died in 2005. There he and his wife, Camilla, raised six boys who will carry on that tradition. He was a character.
