William was the son of Jacob E. "Jake" Milburn (b. between 1843 and 1844 (though later he represented himself as younger), d. between 1920 and 1925) and Margaret "Maggie" Milton(1841-?)(Jacob married Margaret on 11 Mar. 1865 in New Brunswick). Later William and his siblings would also have stepmothers Hannah M. Fisher (Jacob married her 26 Feb 1880 in Davis, Iowa), and Rebecca E. Peckham Hawkins (Jacob married Rebecca 22 Jun 1887 in Cincinatti, Appanoose County, Iowa)

William and his siblings were all the children of Jacob by his first wife, Margaret. William's siblings were:

1.Alfred Milburn (abt 1867-1923)

2.Clementine Hannah ("Hanna" or "Tina")Milburn Hawkins(1871-1928)(she married her stepbrother, Frederick
Palmer Hawkins, with permission of the court as NOT a blood relative), and

3.Elizabeth ("Lizzie" or "Lizza" Milburn Cross Kelly (1873-murdered in 1919).

4.A siblings whose name is unknown, and who probably died young.

William married Clara A. Van Dike on 18 Sep 1888 in Centerville, Appanoose, Iowa.

He and Clara had the following children:

William was a coal miner, and his death certificate shows he died of injuries received in a mine. Among these injuries were a fractured vertebra.

William died in Ninevah Township.
