Obituary - SERVICES SATURDAY FOR BERNARD KAUS - Bernard John "Ben" Kaus, Norton, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Norton County Hospital at the age of 58. Parish Wake Service will be held Friday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Enfield-Eckhart Funeral Home. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Msgr. Armand Girard officiating. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the St. Francis Church or the Valley Hope Association. Friends may call at the funeral home from this evening until service time. Enfield-Eckhart Funeral Home, Norton, is in charge of arrangements. Ben was born Nov. 3, 1922 at Leoville, the son of John and Catherine Moheng Kaus. He grew to manhood in that community and attended the grade school there. He was married to Noreen M. Hickert at New Almelo on July 30, 1945. They lived in Leoville until 1948 when they moved to Selden. In 1950 they moved to Norton where they have since made their home. He was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 3rd degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, past Captain of the Norton Fire Department where he served many years, and manager of a number of Little League baseball teams. He is survived by his wife, Noreen, of the home; seven sons, Charlie and wife Donna, Manhattan; John and wife Brenda, Norton; Daniel, Manhattan; Don, Norton; Gary and wife Linda, Hill City; Bob and Rod, Norton; six daughters, Mary Jo and husband, Frank Ruff, Lenexa; Kay Ann and husband Don Tacha, Limon, Colo.; Carol and husband Dean Lawson, Hays; Anita and husband Richard Morgan, Ludell; Tina, Norton; Jane and husband Robert Wyatt, Norton; his mother and father-in-law, Babe and Josephine Hickert, Norton; two brothers, Frederick and Helen Kaus, Selden, Edmund and Helen Kaus Eastlake, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
