Walter R. Dortch, of the oldest and most prominent citizens of Gadsden, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.R. Forman, in Birmingham at 10 o'clock yesterday. The end came unexpectedly. The funeral was held this afternoon.
Colonel Dortch is survived by the following children, Commander Isaac Foote Dortch, US Navy stationed in San Francisco; Mrs. J.R. Forman, Birmingham; Mrs. W.C. Griggs, Bessemer and William B. Dortch, Gadsden.
