Edward L. "Eddie" Dunneback, aged 85, of Alpine Township, went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2004 after a brave battle with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's Diseases. He was proud to be a lifelong American farmer on the "Ridge" where he owned Ed Dunneback and Girls, Fruit and Dairy Farm. He was born December 17, 1918 to Edwin and Theresa (Lothschultz) Dunneback. A hardworking, gentle man, he was devoted to farming to the end. He will be remembered for his beautiful singing voice at many relatives' and friends' weddings and receptions, hay and sleigh rides, barn dances and Fireman's Balls at the "Dunneback Hall" on his farm. He also was a great dancer and met his wife of 60 years, Helen (Loveless) from Ada, MI at a dance right there on the farm. He was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where he was a member of the choir for many years. He was also a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus #4404, Conklin, MI. He loved horses and worked with them as a boy and through the years they gave him much pleasure. He was involved in the "Walkers Riders Club" and 4-H with his children and then his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by only son, Michael; brothers, Robert, Joseph, and Lester. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen; daughters, Pamela (William) May, Suanne (Steve) Shoemaker; grandchildren, Kimberly (Kirt) Mahar, Michael (Beth) May, Kerryann (Greg) Ellis, Kristina (Andrew) Emery, Kathleen (Rob) Zimmer, Kelly May, Stephanie and Sarah Shoemaker; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma (Pat) Alt; brother, Jack (Lela) Dunneback; sister-in-law, Mary (Les) Dunneback; many nieces and nephews including Billy Alt; and many dear and loving neighbors and friends. Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, January 27, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Alpine, with Fr. Dan DePew Celebrant. Interment Holy Trinity Cemetery. Friends may meet the family at Holy Trinity Church, 1200 Alpine Church Road on Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Prayer Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday one hour prior to the mass.
