Anson - Funeral was to be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church here for Mrs. Rosa L. Thomas, 97, who died at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday at Anson General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
The Rev. James N. Easterwood, pastor, was to officiate. Burial was to be in Bethel Cemetery, east of Anson, with Lawrence Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Thomas was born Rosa L. Starritt on April 15, 1862 at Limestone County. She was reared there and married W. C. Thomas there. They moved to Jones County in 1901. Mr. Thomas, a farmer, died in 1908.
Surviving are four daughters, Miss Dora Thomas of Anson, Mrs. Sallie King of Anson, Mrs. Mollie Donovan of Monterey, Calif., Mrs. Belle Myers of Fresno, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Pelton and Mrs. Alice McGee, both of Anson; 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
