E.A. Kennedy Jr., passed away at age 76 at Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 12, at First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe, Texas.

He was born on May 1, 1933 to E.A. Kennedy and Margaret (Flynt) Kennedy at the family farm in Hardeman County outside Chillicothe, Texas.

Along with his three brothers, E.A. grew up farming wheat and alfalfa. He also loved fishing with his friends or daughters and hunting quail with his Llewellin Setter named Susie. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was a graduate of both, Texas Christian University and Texas A&M University, where he earned his Doctorate in Oceanography.

E.A. spent many years as a teacher and principal at Chillicothe High School, in addition to his 20-year career as an oceanographer and environmental consultant. After suffering a disabling stroke at age 53, E.A. retired to Chillicothe with his faithful little dog, a Lhasa Apso named KuKi.

No longer able to participate in the local wheat harvest, he nonetheless was active in town activities. He served as mayor, adopted a little league softball team, and was a devoted fan to the Chillicothe Eagle 6-Man Football team as well as the Texas Aggies.

E.A. was surely pleased to be greeted in heaven by father Gene and mother Margaret, younger brother Clay, aunt Alleene, Fern and Dusty Cook and many other dear friends and relatives.

Survivors include his daughters, Lesa Barrow and husband, Joe, of Lorena, Texas, Tracee Lewis and husband, Joe, of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Jonathan Barrow, Annee Lewis and Sophie Lewis; and brothers, Lee Henry Kennedy, of Colleyville, Texas and Flynt Kennedy, of McDonald, Penn.

The family would like to acknowledge with heartfelt thanks the sweet care and friendship given to E.A. by Dr. Michael Jahrmarkt of Waco, Texas during his long stay in assisted living and nursing homes. Michael's care was seasoned with humor and witty banter that brought back a mischievous light to E.A.'s eyes.
