Text: Willard Cahoon was born in Avon, Lorain county, Ohio. August 14, 1832 and died at his home in Saranac on Sunday, August 7, 1910. His death was the result of an injury received when his team ran away, July 25. He moved with his family from Ohio to Baraboo, Wisconsin; by team about 45 years ago. They came to Michigan and bought the Anderson place now the John Robert farm in Keene. Ten years later they purchased the Vosper farm which has been their home since. He was married to Caroline Hix October 31, 1854. She preceeded him to the spirit land in March 1909. To this union four children were born, three sons, J. S. , Fred E., and Lewis Cahoon all of Keene township and one daughter Mrs. Kittie Gould of Rockford, WA. There are twenty grandchildren and four great grandchildren that survive him. Mr. Cahoon was one of those active, energetic man who could do a thing easier than he could tell someone else to do it. This spirit was with him until the last. He was a good citizen and neighbor and had the confidence and esteem of all who knew him. (it goes on to talk about the funeral services, but the one I saw was unreadable).
