Roy Lee Williamson of Sardis died Thursday, March 28 at Saline Memorial Hospital. He was 79.

He was born Dec. 30, 1922, in Little Rock to Fred and Kate Armond Williamson. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, an employee of Rand Wholesale Corp. of North Little Rock, and a member of Sardis United Methodist Church. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2256 in Benton, and a member of the U.S.S. Minneapolis Association.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Williamson and J.T. Williamson; a sister, Rose Tarvin; a grandson, Terry Lee Williamson; and a granddaughter, Lateasha Dawn Williamson.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Louise Williamson of Sardis; a son, Donald Williamson and his wife Marie of Sardis; a granddaughter, Tonya Knight and her husband Brian of Sardis; and a great-grandson, B.J. Knight of Sardis.

Funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Sardis United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Jones officiating.

Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery in Sardis.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton, 315-4047.

Serving as pallbearers will be former members of his Sunday School class where he taught for many eyars, Larry Asubrooks, Tommy Tull, David Styles, Jackie Cloud, Rick Bradbury and Darrell Green.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Mark Martindale, Sam Owens Jr., Lee Jones, Pat Dillon and Al Cody.

Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital or the Shrine Hospital of Shreveport, LA.
