Beloved mother, grandmother and aunt passed away in Elkton, MD, on Sunday November 8, 2009.

Helen was born in Wilmington DE. She attended St. Peter Cathedral School in Wilmington graduating in 1929. After graduating Helen became employed as a nanny and home caretaker and later worked for Bancroft Mills in military surplus during the Word War II. While working for Bancroft Mills she met her Husband Valentine B. Algard with whom she shared 36 years of marriage before his passing in 1984. She worked for the State of Delaware as School Bus Aid before her retirement at the age of eighty two after 35 years of service.

Mrs. Algard was predeceased by her son Steven Algard. Helen is survived by her loving son, Christopher Algard and his wife Brenda of Newark, DE; beloved daughter-in-law, Ida Algard of Elkton, MD; cherished grandchildren, Emily, Lauren and Andrew Algard all of Elkton, MD and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dog, Daisy and her cats Annie and Baby.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, on Thursday, November 12, at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 521 Harmony St. New Castle, DE 19720 where the family will receive guests from 10-11 am. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the above mentioned church.
