ST. FRANCIS -- Leonard Lloyd Amsberry, 85, formerly of Bird City, died Friday (Nov. 6, 2009), at Good Samaritan Village in St. Francis.

He was born July 15, 1924, in Cheyenne County, Kan.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked at a bulk fuel farm and oil delivery.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margret Lohrene (Cress) in 1993; his second wilfe, Julia (Morland) in June 2009; and a son, Lonnie, in 1956.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynette Nolan of St. Francis and LyNelle Netherton of Florida; a brother, Lee Amsberry of Bird City; three sisters, Darlene Brubaker of Bird City, Vera Sumner of Brush, Colo., and Dorothy Hammers of Englewood, Colo.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at St. John Lutheran Church in Bird City . Burial will follow at Bird City Cemetery, with military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Visitation is Friday, 1-6 p.m., at Knodel Funeral Home in St. Francis.

Memorials may be made to the Cheyenne County EMTs or to the National Parkinson Foundation.
