She was born on July 11, 1920 in Arban, Minnesota the daughter of Joseph & Genevieve Heitzman Lichy.
On November 26, 1938, Adeline M. Lichy & Carl L. Barthel were joined in holy marriage at St. Arban Catholic Church in Arban, Minnesota. God blessed their marriage with fourteen children.
Mr. & Mrs. Barthel moved to St. Michael from N. Minneapolis sixty four years ago.
Mr & Mrs. Barthel also engaged in farming. Adeline was formerly employed by Don's Bus Service in Albertville for many years, at the Purina Egg Plant in Rogers and at the St. Michael Nursing Home.
She enjoyed children, crocheting, dancing and old tyme music.
Adeline was a faithful member of The Church of St. Albert in Albertville.
Survived by twelve children: Lou Weitzel, Lorraine (Larry) Keller, Carolyn (Larry) Backes, Diana (Ron) Olson, Charles (Joan) Barthel, John (Barb) Barthel, Ann Walz, Louise (Michael) Kemmetmueller, Linda (Michael) Johnson, Patty (Gregg) Otten, Cecelia (Ruben) Aponte and Ed (Tori) Barthel; thirty one grandchildren, fifty one great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren; special friend: Joe Miller; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband Carl L. Barthel, tw0 infant children: Mary & Joseph, a grandchild, her parents, twelve brothers and sisters and by a son-in-law: Dwane Walz.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Adeline Barthel was held on Monday, September 28th at 10:30 A.M. at The Church of St. Albert in Albertville. Father Peter Richards was the Celebrant. Interment followed at St. Albert Cemetery.
A visitation was held on Sunday, September 27th from 5-9 P.M. at the church. A Prayer service was held at 7:30 P.M. Further visitation was held on Monday morning, September 28th at the church one hour prior to Mass.
Casket Bearers were Joe Weitzel, Dan Keller, Eric Barthel, Michael Barthel, Benjamin Johnson, Kelsey Otten, Josh Aponte and Jason Kemmettmueller.
