He was born to a black Daddy, Tim Villines and a white Mother, Nancy. It is said that Nancy died around the time of Johnnie's birth..possibly during his birth. On the 1900 census it listed only Tim and Johnnie in the household. He was raised by his step mother Rosetta. It's said that he is buried at Beechwoods beside his Dad and his step mother and half brother Willie.
