Mrs. Matilda Love, widow of John Love, who died about six years ago, died at the home of her son, Mr. T. L. Love, at Unionville at 1:30 last Saturday morning. The good old lady lacked but a few days of attaining the ripe old age of ninety years. While she had continued to live at her old home place, she visited a great deal among her children. She had just been on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. John I. Long, in Monroe and then gone to her son's at Unionville. She had left the request that no matter where she might die, her body should be taken home before burial and rest awhile at the same place in the house where her husband's had lain. This was done, and a short religious service was held by Mr. T. L. A. Helms in the presence of her old neighbors and friends. The remains were then taken to Zion church for burial and Rev. W. R. Ware conducted funeral service.

For seventy years Mrs. Love was a devoted member of the Methodist church, and loved her church with a single devotion. The high place that she held in the affection of her neighbors was attested by the large gathering that followed the remains to their last resting place. She was born in Wadesboro and her maiden name was Tarlton. Three sons and two daughters survive their mother - Messrs. W. A., T. L. and J. W. Love, and Mrs. John I. Long and Mrs. W. T. Baucom.
