Services for Sadie Lou Vardy, 95, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with the Revs. Steve Holston and Gerald Farley officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock.

She died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003.

She was born April 14, 1907, in Melissa. She graduated from high school in Sulphur Springs, Okla., in 1924 and from Draughn's Business College. She married Phillip Lee Vardy on Nov. 4, 1928. He died in 1984.

She lived in Turkey until 1947. She was a teachers' assistant in the Head Start program and a secretary in the Slaton Independent School District. In 1968 she moved back to Turkey and lived there until retiring in Lubbock in 1978.

She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star in Turkey and Slaton, where she was Worthy Matron. She was a member of the Junior Civic and Culture Club in Slaton and Knife and Fork Club of Lubbock. She was a life member of the PTA and Church of Christ.

One son, Richard, died in 1992

Survivors include a son, James of Wolfforth; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
