Mary was full Shawnee Indian & married 1st to Peter Chevalier, Jr in 1859 in Delaware, Leavenworth Co., Ks. He had very recently emigrated from France. They had 5 children together before they divorced between 1885 & 1895. Their land in Ingalls was in her name & she donated the land for this cemetery. She then married John Smock 9 Sep 1895 in Ingalls, Payne Co., Ok, but they divorced very quickly. She lastly married Harrison Fletcher Orvis in 1899/1900 in Payne Co., Ok & she helped raise his youngest children, Floyd & Ira, from his prior marriage.
