MRS. MELINDA BINGAMAN
Melinda Whitlatch, daughter of Lewis and Jennette Riddle Whitlatch, was born in Marion county, Iowa, on March 3, 1854, and died at her home in Lucas county, Iowa July 1, 1939, aged 85 years, 3 months and 28 days.
On January 1, 1872, she was united in marriage to William Bingaman and to this union four children were born, Mrs. Fannie Grimes and George Bingaman, of Columbia; Mrs. Minnie Applegate, of Knoxville; and Bert Bingaman, of Chariton. Her husband preceded her in death March 9, 1927.
She is survived by her four children, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Her parents and all of her brothers and sisters have preceded her in death.
She was converted and united with the Methodist church at Oakdale and later moved her membership to the Pleasant Prairie church, which she supported with her means and presence as long as her health permitted.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Pleasant Prairie church by the Rev. Forrest Moore, of Amish, assisted by Rev. Noland, of Columbia. Burial services were held at Oakdale cemetery in Monroe county.
