Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for William N Childs who died March 4. Services were held at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Stanley Williamsen officiating. Mrs Richard Ziemer was the organist and Mrs Daryl Ziemer was soloist. Interment was at the Spring Creek Cemetery near Reardan. Pall bearers were Ernest Guhlke, Henry Schwartz, Gerald Janett, Richard Ziemer, Paul Clark and Frank Reinbold. Mr Childs was born and raised in Reardan in 1889. He was married in Spokane to Ruth Timmons in 1909 and they farmed north of Reardan until 1935. At that time they moved to a farm east of Davenport . Two sons were born to the couple, William Leonard Childs, who with his wife now run the farm east of Davenport , and Floyd E Childs, who preceded his father in death in 1966. Survivors include his wife, Ruth, at the home; one son, William Childs of Davenport ; two sisters, Mrs Emily King of Vernonia,Oregon, and M Dina David of Spokane, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr Childs was the past master of the Mondovi Grange and a member of the Davenport Zion Lutheran Church. (Davenport Times: 3-11-1971)
