Joshua and wife Susanna Ziegler Tillery were in Surry County in 1780 and Stokes County, North Carolina from 1783-1788. They bought land in Oglethorpe County, Georgia in 1797. Listed in the DAR as a soldier from Virginia.

'Tuesday, Oct. 15, 1822: Died: On Monday morning the 23rd of September at his residence, in Morgan County of fever, Mr. Joshua Tillery Sr., in the 76th year of his age, after a long and severe ilness of 33 days.'Joshua was recognized in the Revolutionaly War for "Public Service Claims." Joshua's claim is noted in the Salsbury District of North
